Creative Corner | A Chat with Jessica Jackson
Musician, stylist, photographer, creative director, model, designer....there is no artistic medium Memphis native Jessica Jackson hasn't explored. We have never met a young creative as multifaceted, focused and resilient as Jessica which is why we chose her to be our creative director and stylist for January's Trend-To-Try! Learn about what inspires her and her advice for aspiring creatives!
For those who don't know, what do you do?
It's a long list of things, but to save time I'll say that I am a creator of sorts.
Could you bless us with a verbal moodboard of things currently inspiring you?
Colors inspire me tremendously. I could be driving by a teal colored building & get flooded with tons of ideas. Also, people. People inspire me to no end.
Our photoshoot was so much fun! What are your favorite pieces from the Luxe Leisure: Cozy Knits edit?
Oh goodness, it's so hard to choose! They were all super cute looks! But I'm obsessed with the midi blush pink pleated skirt. OBSESSED.
From what I gather, the cornerstone of your identity is family. How has your family influenced you creatively?
Well, i basically grew up around creativity being that my family is full of artists & musicians. I got to be around some really cool people because of my dad, who is a studio engineer, musician & composer, and also because of my mom, who was the lead singer in their band. So they basically opened me up to the creative world.
Could you give any words of wisdom for aspiring creatives?
You have the power to execute each and every creative idea that you have without being overwhelmed or stressed. Just do one thing at a time & everything will be just fine. Keep your mind sober.
What are some things you want to accomplish in 2017?
- Move to Los Angeles
- Travel more
- Solidify my creative agency
- Set goals & follow through
- Live life to the fullest
Where can we find your work?
